Q. What made you want to become an actor? A. I had dropped out of school, was doing odd jobs, and didnt know what to do. A friend suggested acting classes, I went and liked it. Q. If you weren’t acting what do you think your profession would be? A. I dont know, im not qualified for much else… I’d be in bad shape. Q. What character are you most frequently recongnized as? A. Quinn. Q. Your movie “The Hole” was one of the most disturbing movies I had ever seen and it was very intense. What was it like playing a character that was pretty much dying? A. It was demanding emotionally but physically, just trying to lose as much weight as I could was hard – alot of gym time. Q. “The Hole” shows 2 different versions of a situation. People trapped because someone just never shows up to let them out and people trapped by someone among them with the resources to save their lives. Which do you find more scary? A. The idea of someone being able to save your life and not doing it is more frightening. Q. Was your character based on a real person in “Riding in Cars with Boys”? If so was that difficult? A. No he was not, my experience on that movie was a lot of fun. I believe Brittany Murphy was one of the best actors of all time and feel lucky to have worked with her. Q. How was your experience on “Ghost Ship”? A. “Ghost Ship” was a long shoot in Australia. So it was amazing to be in Australia but at times difficult to be away from home for that length of time. In terms of playing the character it was fun. Some of the movie doesnt make sense to me, but all in all, I enjoyed the experience and playing Jack. Q. The movie “Love Object” was very creepy, especially the doll. Were you ever creeped out by the doll or after working with it for so long did you get used to it? A. No never creeped out, I was amazed by how real the doll could look at times and the work that went into making it. Q. I also heard with “Love Object” there were a lot of accidents on set because of clumisness, can you elaborate more on that if it’s accurate? A. No real accidents, the doll was quite heavy so at times she got dropped which wasnt good, because she cost 10 thousand dollars. Q. “Wrong Turn” is one of my favorite movies and I’ve heard there was a lot of bad luck with that movie. Including a broken ankle and poisin ivy, can you elaborate more on that if it’s accurate? A . I didnt break my ankle but twisted it to the point where it turned different colors and was very hard to walk on let alone run; which we did alot of in the movie. I believe Eliza got poison ivy, I luckily did not. Q. On “Gossip Girl” you had to play a member of a family with a very specific type of personality, how did you prepare for that role? A. In terms of preparation I was asked to do it on a Friday and was shooting Monday so there wasnt a lot of time to prepare. Playing him was quite easy, he wanted one thing and one thing alone and would let nothing get in his way. A lot of times with characters who are “bad” or whatever you may call it, the dialogue will do alot of the work and the last thing you want to do is play “bad” it becomes overkill. Q. Your new movie “TiMer” looks very interesting, if you had the option of getting a similar implant would you? A. No fuckin’ way, I think part of the beauty of life is not knowing whats going to happen and letting life unfold as you go along, its a pretty amazing thing. Q. What is it like on “Dexter” knowing that any moment your character can be killed off? A. It’s not the most comfortable feeling, but being part of the show is amazing and working with such great actors is a gift, so i try not to think about it much and just enjoy going to work everyday. Q. Can you tell us a little about what “Massholes” is about? A. “Massholes” was a comedy i did in 1999, it was set in the 80s and was about a bunch of slacker/stoner kids living in a boring town in Massachusetts (hence the name massholes). Alot of fun to work on. I guess the movie didnt come out very well and it will unfortunately never be seen. |
