Jack always seems to make the name of a good villain, or at least an unlikable rascal, as is the case of Gossip Girl’s Uncle Jack (Desmond Harrington). If you can remember all the way back to the last couple of seasons, Uncle Jack is the devious relative who tried to become of Chuck Bass’s (Ed Westwick) guardian after Chuck’s father died in a car crash. It was all in the attempt to take over control of Bass Industries, and it ultimately failed. We haven’t seen much of Uncle Jack in Season 5; however, that is all about to change.
Gossip Girl executive producer Josh Safron has stated that Desmond Harrington has scored another go as the devious Jack on a few upcoming episodes of the hit CW program. According to TV Line, Harrington will be back for the last third of the season. Quite shockingly, his tenure will not be marked by scheming, as Saffron has been quick to state Chuck and his Uncle will be on good terms.
That’s a pretty big shocker, one that is perhaps not as strange as the fact Uncle Jack’s upcoming storyline is expected to be comedic. Saffron spoke out more about Harrington’s particular role in the later part of the season:
It’s really twisty and comic. And there might be some secrets that Jack will help Chuck to uncover.
Gossip Girl has always been viciously humorous, but with Chuck and Jack getting along, I honestly have no idea what to expect. However, if there is a little mystery to get into, that’s enough of a plot pull to get me interested. Are you excited about Jack’s return? Sound off in the comments below.

Desmond is reprising his role as the infamous Uncle Jack Bass on the CW’s Gossip Girl April 25th in the episode “Petty in Pink”. Let’s take a look back shall we? In season 2 Jack showed up and at first he looked to be helping his nephew after a tragic loss, instead he tried to steal his brother’s company out from under his nephew. That’s not all, in his brief visit he managed to sleep with the love of Chuck’s life as well as try to rape Chuck’s step mother. His second visit in season 3 was quite worse. Jack found Chuck’s dead mother (who is alive) and brought her into Chuck’s life only so the two could, again, try to steal away Chuck’s company. It turns out all along that Jack was screwing Chuck’s mother, as well as mentioning he had screwed all of Chuck’s nannies in the past, oh and lets not forget he manages to buy Blair, the love of Chuck’s life, for sex. What can be worse than revealing Chuck’s mother is not only alive but then making the woman get to know and betray the son she had abandoned years ago? Well ladies and gentleman the great Jack Bass or “Jack Ass” is back for a third round and we’re all curious to know what he’s up to now.
